Smoke DZA & Joey Bada$$ Unite on “The Mood”

Smoke DZA and Joey Bada$$ are two focal figures in the current New York hip-hop scene. Both seasoned rhymers with a passion for the pen, DZA and Joey are keen on perpetuating their city’s sound and origins by molding their aesthetics around this era. Their mutual employment of thorough wordplay complements one another, making for sonically pleasing collaborations. Most recently, the two lyricists united their skills on the Joey-assisted track, “The Mood”.
Spitting over the classic Kanye-produced Scarface track “Guess Who’s Back”, Smoke and Joey pay homage to these foundation hip-hop members by applying their own touches. The two use “The Mood” to assert their dominance over the competition by reminding everyone of their superior musical abilities. At the intersection of heightened rapping and mutual respect, “The Mood” shines.
