Hot! Nas, Jay Electronica, Royce Da 5’9″, Freddie Gibbs x Alchemist Among ‘Best Rap Album’ Grammy Nominees

The Academy recognizes hip-hop royalty.

Earlier today, the 2021 Grammy Award nominations were unveiled. With such a dense year for releases, both in terms of quantity and quality, the 63rd annual Grammys is sure to be a competitive affair. And while hip-hop is well-represented in today’s nominations, a few seem to stand out from the crowd.

For Best Rap Album, it seems as if the Academy is paying special attention to some of hip-hop’s most prized veterans, as Nas (King’s Disease), Jay Electronica (It Was Written), Royce Da 5’9” (The Allegory), and Freddie Gibbs x Alchemist (Alfredo) have been nominated. One of rap’s most promising burgeoning artists, D Smoke, rounded out this group of fine company with his album, Black Habits.

Be sure to tune into the awards show on January 31, 2021.
