Lifetime Announces ‘Salt-N-Pepa’ Bio-series Cast
Coming to a TV near you in 2020.
Hip-hop and biopics have a long-tenured relationship. From Biggie’s Notorious to the heralded Straight Outta Compton, rappers’ journeys, trials, and tribulations have been told across the silver screen for years. But even if an artist’s career documentation doesn’t make it to theaters, they can still reach the masses through TV. Some time next year, Lifetime will tell the story of the iconic Salt-N-Pepa, for which they recently revealed the cast.
Simply-titled Salt-N-Pepa, Lifetime has recruited G.G. Towson and Laila Odom to play Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton, respectively, to tell the decorated story of the influential duo. The former is known for her role as Stella in the TV show, In The Cut; the latter as Teri Debarge in the 2019 film, The Bobby DeBarge Story.
Salt-N-Pepa will be a limited-run series.
