Freddie Gibbs Shines In Vevo’s Live Series, ‘Ctrl’
Performing “Soul Right” and “Cataracts.”
Capitalizing on the endearing quality of intimate concert settings, much like in the vein of Colors and Tiny Desk Concert, Vevo’s Ctrl series strips away the robust sound systems for a barebones acoustic environment. Most recently, Freddie Gibbs tackled the live stage to perform two cuts from his collaborative project with Madlib, Bandana, with “Soul Right” and “Cataracts.”
With his baritone voice and unquestionable bravado, Freddie tackles the potentially unforgiving stage with confidence and aplomb. His signature voice soars in the stripped-down arena, proving that his talent isn’t a product of fancy recording equipment or auto-tune; all Freddie needs is a mic, his mouth, and some Madlib beats to shine.
