Hot! TI & Jeezy Tease Collaborative Project

Please let this happen.

Trap is undoubtedly hip-hop’s most popular sub-genre. Look at today’s biggest stars and their incredible streaming numbers confirms this: Future, Migos, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert. While trap has recently engulfed hip-hop, it’s by no means a new derivative—quite the contrary. Guys like UGK, Outkast, and others helped pioneer the sound and concepts, but two individuals may have helped shape it the most: TI and Jeezy. As of recently, it looks like we might get a joint project from the trap gods.

This isn’t the first time that the two have teased a collaborative project, however—they mentioned one, Dope Boy Academy, back in 2014 that never saw the light of day. While speaking with Billboard, TI informed them that he’s excited to get started on the project. “I just wanna go and get started,” he told them, “You know, me and Young, we tend to go back and forth because Young, he does a lot of contemplating, which is very good, because that’s how you come up with the best ideas, but I just move. I’m ready to go.”

Previous commitments hindered the release of Dope Boy Academy, but hopefully the two are in a place in their careers where they can dedicate maximum focus and energy to showing today’s trap fans what real trap music sounds like.
