MF DOOM Speaks On Unreleased Madlib Collabs & More In Spin Interview

Is a new Madvillainy on the way?

MF DOOM and Madlib — collectively known a Madvillain — are an enigmatic match-made in heaven. The former, one of the game’s most esoteric and challenging lyricists; the latter, an eclectic production force who’s architected tracks for everyone, from Freddie Gibbs to Kanye West. Now, the two have revealed that they have “albums” worth of unreleased tracks.

Over the weekend, the two celebrated the 15-year anniversary of their inaugural collaborative album, Madvillainy. Reminiscing about the album’s creative process in a rare interview with Spin’s Will Gottsegen, DOOM spoke with him about the amount of unreleased material that he and Madlib have.

The interview is conceptually dualistic as it discusses the joy DOOM has in crafting his superior bars; he also opens up personally, speaking about his late son, King Malachi Dumile, who passed in 2017 at only 14-years-old.

The jury is out on whether or not we’ll ever hear these unreleased DOOM x Madlib tracks, but we do know this: these two, individually, are some of the best at what they do; collectively, they’re unmatched.
