Lil Wayne & Logic Come Correct With New Albums
Tha Carter V and YSIV are here.
And just like that, it’s finally here: Lil Wayne’s long-fabled album that was trending more mythical than realistic has arrived–Tha Carter V has been unearthed, dusted-off, and presented to the public.
But while this news is exciting unto itself, and while this is enough to substantiate its own “New Music Friday”, Weezy is joined by Logic, Kevin Gates, and Chief Keef in this week’s edition of new music just in time for the weekend.
Given its impending legendary status, it seems like the entire industry was clamoring to secure a feature spot on Wayne’s fifth installment of his Tha Carter series. Coming in at a loaded 23-tracks, 87-minutes, Tha Carter V is graced by an eclectic mix of guest artists: the late XXXtentacion, Travis Scott, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Sosaman, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, among others. Production on this album is architected by a range of impactful producers, including: Swizz Beatz, Ben Billions, Zaytoven, and everyone in between.
Like Wayne, Logic has come through today to punctuate his own album series: the Young Sinatra saga. Today, the DMV rapper has released YSIV–the official follow-up to his 2013 mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever. A 14-track offering spanning 76-minutes, YSIV is a dense offering, complete with features from the likes of Wale and Jaden Smith–oh yeah, and the entire Wu-Tang clan on the album’s sixth track, “Wu-Tang Forever”.
