Joyner Lucas Continues Teasing ‘ADHD’ With “Broke and Stupid” Single
Another sound offering from the Massachusetts rapper.
As Joyner Lucas continues preparing his forthcoming studio release, ADHD, he comes through today, June 27th, with another preview of what’s to come through single, “Broke and Stupid.”
Playing with a softer instrumental than we’re accustomed to with Joyner, the 30-year-old MC injects a sense of sonic duality on “Broke and Stupid.” While the beat is inherently laidback, Joyner enlists his conventional serrated vocal schemes, with each bar’s closing word acting as an exclamation mark.
But his vocal tenacity acts as more than just contrast to the chilled production — it’s also foreshadowing.
Almost halfway through the four-minute song, the “Broke and Stupid” beat introduces raucous trap drums, transforming it into a hard-hitting anthem.
“Broke and Stupid” joins other ADHD singles “Isis,” “I Love,” and “Devil’s Work.” A release date for the album is still uncertain.
