Jeezy Announces Retirment
It’s a sad day for hip-hop.
It’s an adage as old as time: all good things must come to an end. And while this cliché is perhaps more overused than others, it’s also one of the universe’s exclusive absolute truths. Yes, all good things at some point must come to an end. Our lives, that delicious cookie you’re munching on, and even the almighty Jeezy must come to an end. The latter might be actualized sooner that fans are ready for.
Through a Thursday Twitter announcement, the Snowman rapper informed the community that Thug Motivation 104–one of several Jeezy album series–will be his last album. In a heartfelt message, Jeezy told fans, “As the Cold Summer tour comes to an end.. It was inspiring seeing my day one fans since my first album & class TM 101 come out every night. Now class is coming to an end. It’s time for Graduation! My Last Album & Final Class: TM104 #TrustYaProcess”.
Retirements are an often played with idea in hip-hop, usually finding the retiree going back on that promise. Jay Z has threatened retirement numerous times, and so have guys like Lupe and Lil Wayne, so who’s to say if Jeezy’s sullen announcement will actually come to fruition.
Look, all good things must come to an end, so one day the light on Jeezy’s illustrious career will burn out. But hopefully, that doesn’t happen for awhile.
