Ice Cube To Star In New Film, ‘Flint Strong’

His first film since 2017’s Fist Fight.

Ice Cube, the entertainment hyphenate, is poised to continue his acting career, as he’s recently announced that he’ll be starring in the upcoming film, Flint Strong.

Centered around the 24-year-old Olympic gold medalist boxer Claressa “T-Rex” Shields, Cube — referred to in the film world by his government name, O’Shea Jackson — is set to portray Shields’ coach, Jason Crutchfield; Ryan Destiny, known for role as Alexandra Crane in Fox’s Star, will co-star with Jackson as Shields.

Flint Strong, written by Academy Award-winning director Barry Jenkins, will tell the story of Shields’ boxing ascent in Flint, MI, and how it eventually resulted in her taking home Gold at the London 2012 Summer Olympics in the women’s middleweight division.

The movie is currently in pre-production.
