Spotify & Gimlet Media Launch Hip-Hop Podcast, ‘The Mogul Mixtapes’

Last year, Spotify acquired the podcast powerhouse Gimlet Media in effort to supplement their growing storytelling portfolio. With shows like The Journal and Without Fail, Gimlet has established themselves as a preeminent podcasting vehicle. Starting today (April 29th), one of their existing properties, Mogul, which takes a deep dive into hip-hop’s decorated history, will be expanding through a new mini-series, The Mogul Mixtapes.

Hosted by Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins, an established personality who’s worked on various Complex initiatives, The Mogul Mixtapes will provide deep-dives into the various hip-hop wrinkles that have formulated this genre compelling fabric. Speaking with a variety of figures — including DJs, artists, and more — The Mogul Mixtapes will provide listeners with in-depth conversation surrounding a medley of fascinating topics.

The inaugural episode features Jinx speaking with Mouse Jones, the respected hip-hop podcaster, about the long-standing and well-documented animosity between 50 Cent and Ja Rule. 

Additionally, each episode will be accompanied by a curated playlist for your listening pleasure.
