5/17 “New Music Friday”
Featuring Curren$y and Statik Selektah and Wu-Tang.
It’s that time of week again: time to almost unplug from corporate monotony, and shift our thinking to the weekend ahead. And what better way to calibrate that thought process than enjoying an influx of new music with “New Music Friday”? Today, we’ve got a loaded schedule.
One of the more prolific “New Music Fridays” in recent memory, heavy hitters like Curren$y and Statik Selektah and The Wu-Tang Clan.
Spitta and Statik have linked on their collaborative effort, Gran Turismo. A 10-track, 27-minute album, Gran Turismo features an interesting, eclectic featured artist list, including young guns like YBN Cordae and respected vets like Jim Jones.
Having worked together for years, Statik and Spitta have developed a palpable chemistry that is bolstered by their new project.
Complementing their ongoing Showtime documentary series, Wu Tang: Of Mics And Men, the legendary group has come through with the series’ soundtrack.
A succinct seven-track offering, the new Wu-Tang body of work features only a select amount of the group’s original members — like GZA, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna — and an outside perspective courtesy of Nas.
