Rocko’s U.O.E.N.O song has been the talk of the town these past few days as Rick Ross’ lyrics got him dropped from Reebok and forced him to issue an apology. Rocko sat down with MTV for an interview and defended Rick Ross.
“As far as the Reebok thing, I don’t think that was fair because what he brought to Reebok. People in my neighborhood, in my city, they’re back wearing Reeboks. It was a cardinal sin to wear Reebok before Ross started promoting ‘em. Ross stepped in and he branded ‘em and he got the urban market back in to ‘em.”
Following the controversy caused by Rick Ross’ lyrics on Rocko’s song, U.O.E.N.O. and the numerous protests against the brand, Reebok, who sponsors the rapper, has decided to terminate its relationship with him. Check out the statement below:
“Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so. While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse.”
Yesterday, a Rick Ross concert was canceled in Canada after a student protest. Today, Rocko released another version of .U.O.E.N.O. featuring Wiz Khalifa. The song wasn’t getting much radio airplay due to the controversy.
