730 Column: The End of the 50 Cent Era?

Remember when all 50 Cent had to do to turn an entire fanbase against an artist was snicker in his, or in Ashanti’s case, her direction. Those flinchingly loyal fans all of a sudden had to burn their CDs, trash their mp3s, and deny any positive feelings they may have had for said artist at any time. Back in the day, and it makes me feel old that I can write like that now, 50 launched an all-out assault on this cat named Ja Rule, who was absolutely killing the game at the time. Not only did every single he drop strike radio gold, but he had a solid team around him, and, more valuable than all of that, Ja had perfected the rap and R&B crossover that 50 would soon take for himself, minus corny J.Lo cameos.

    Audible Doctor Interview

Audible Doctor’s been making huge strides since we first heard him over here with his crew the Brown Bag All-Stars. Unbeknownst to A.D., 50 Cent not only chose one of his tracks, but recorded to it and leaked it at the top of the year, exponentially increasing the double threat’s rise to elite.

HipHopGame sits down with Audible Doctor to discuss his breakout year in 2013, how the 50 Cent track happened, crafting an album with the legendary Fredro Starr, his Brown Bag crew, and much more in this exclusive interview.

G-Unit Reunion Would Only Involve Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo

DJ Whoo Kid was asked by DJ Drama about the possible G-Unit reunion 50 Cent mentioned last week andhere is what he had to say:

“If there is a reunion, it will just be like Yayo, Banks and Fif,” Whoo Kid told DJ Drama. “It will never be Buck and it will never be Game. It will never be like the added accessories that we had, the little Voltron shit. It would be like Voltron with one leg missing. I don’t know, but it would definitely be the original three.”

    50 Cent Not Against A G-Unit Reunion

During his interview with ESPN’s First Take, 50 Cent said that a G-Unit reunion is a possibility.

What about a reunion of G-Unit?

The original G-Unit, maybe. We might do something. I’ll be honest with you. Some of these new artists on the label I don’t think are working as hard as they could. I don’t know how hard they want to work or how much they want it. I could see the original coming back together though.
