Looks like Drake wasn’t aware of his involvement in the Big Tymers.
“I didn’t get the phone call about that,” Drake told MTV News, clearly caught off guard by the question, and even glancing over at his management for answers. “But I’m sure I’ll be involved.”
Yesterday Lil Wayne hinted at a possible Big Tymers reunion. During today’s MTV RapFix Live. Weezy confirmed that an album was in the works but when asked if Mannie Fresh was involved, Birdman said it would only be him, Lil Wayne and Drake.
Rap duo Mannie Fresh and Birdman used to be known as Big Tymers until 2005 when Mannie Fresh left Cash Money Records for Def Jam Records but it looks like the group could get resurrected.
During his Supra sneaker launch in Miami last week, Lil Wayne told MTV about his upcoming projects including a Big Tymers reunion with the addition of Drake.
One of the projects that comes before Tha Carter V may be a sequel to Tunechi and Birdman’s collaborative 2006 Like Father, Like Son album, but that wasn’t the most surprising project Weezy mentioned. “Possibility of that, possibility of a Big Tymers album, adding Drake,” Weezy said. “But that kid is so busy, it’s all kind of possibilities.”
