In this interview with Vibe, Swizz Beatz discusses his role in Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail album, the Samsung marketing aspect and more.
“Jay is just ahead of the times. I’ve been working with Jay for 17 years now—which is crazy because I’m only 34,” Swizz explains. “This album represents Jay. It’s like… how do give somebody something authentic that they can go back pull from and give them something that’s ahead of its time? I think he summed that up very well.”
He continues: [Fans] always want to go back to the classics. You always have that hunger of ‘Man, why didn’t he didn’t he just… Man, he’s supposed to…’ It’s always going to be that. For the first time in a long time I think someone solved that problem. He did that with this album. “

According to RollingStone, Black Eyed Peas front man Will.i.am has filed a lwsuit against Pharrell Williams over his newly launched brand “i am OTHER” – claiming that he owns the copyright to the phrase “I AM” and that Pharrell’s logo is “confusingly similar.”
In his notice of opposition, Will.i.am argues that Pharrell would be using his “i am OTHER” brand on clothing and other items in a manner similar to the goods that bear his own “I AM” logo. “The registration of the mark . . . is likely to dilute the I AM mark and the WILL.I.AM mark,” the document reads.
Lawyers for Pharrell and “i am OTHER” filed an answer to Will.i.am’s notice of opposition, denying all such claims.
“I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me,” Pharrell says in a statement to RS. “I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will’s trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do.”
