When your crew is #TheWinners, it’s only natural for expectations and pressure to be naturally elevated. Not only do fans expect you to constantly win, but your own crew expects the same. Hempstead’s SmooVth is taking it all in stride as he steadily drops dope track after dope track, carving his place in the game over rugged beats with the respect of his contemporaries and vets like Roc Marciano and Agallah. From linking with fellow Winner Hus Kingpin and Marvelous Mag to blindly emailing DJ Premier only to hear Preem rock his song on his radio show, Live from HeadQcourterz, SmooVth is earning the respect of old heads and young cats alike. Taking a break from prepping one of his many projects, SmooVth sits down with ProfileWild to talk about his rise as an MC, how #TheWinners came about, what he has to do to be successful, and why Nas’s It Was Written was more influential to him than Illmatic. SmooVth also survives a round with the random question generator and drops some acapella bars to close it out.

At times, it feels as though the music, and on a larger scale, the culture, is stuck in a hazy sleep. So much injustice. So much negativity. And while none of this is new, UnLearn’s had enough of it, hence his latest project, The Wake-Up Call, a tour-de-force of an album rife with sharp lyricism, a critical eye on society, and deep personal introspection few artists are capable of. Far from a new jack, UnLearn’s been releasing music for well over a decade, starting off with bangers from producers like Jake One and only growing from there. With a slew of strong independent releases under his belt, UnLearn has earned every fan he has, yet as his music continues to spread, it’s clear there will be many more fans tuning in. UnLearn takes some time out of his day to chop it up with ProfileWild about The Wake-Up Call, his artistic process, his activism, how he succeeds as an independent artist, and much more, and of course ends with a dope acapella.

Don Status, the title of Agallah’s latest mixtape, is redundant in a sense because it implies that Ag has reached a level that he’s been at for over a decade. For years, Agallah has been one of the best MC/producers in the game, crafting a unique sound both on the mic and behind the boards that is reminiscent of the mid-’90s, the era he came up in, but far from being stuck there. Agallah catches up with ProfileWild to talk about his latest project, showing love to up-and-coming artists, his production process, if he’d ever get back with Purple City, the making of “Crookie Monster,” what other voices he can do, and much more in a sense.in a classic interview for the ages. Stay tuned after the freestyle as Ag rocks a 730 beat for your listening pleasure.
