Ali Jones, a member of St. Louis rapper Nelly's St. Lunatics group, was subdued with a Taser by a Hazelwood police officer after a Saturday afternoon traffic stop.
Jones accuses the officer of stunning him numerous times without provocation, while a police department release said Jones had resisted arrest and kicked the arresting officer.
Jones, 34, said a police officer pulled his Chevrolet Corvette over on McDonnell Boulevard near north Lindbergh Boulevard.
Ali, alleged Sunday night that shortly after the officer pulled him over, the officer inexplicably used his Taser on him 46 times.
"My back is a mess," said Jones, who said he sustained numerous burns. "He Tased me repeatedly over and over."
Jones said the white officer made several racial remarks during the traffic stop.
Hazelwood police said in a department release that Jones was driving on an expired license and when the officer attempted to arrest him, he resisted arrest, damaged the patrol car and kicked the arresting officer.
"That's all bogus," said Jones, who was picking up video equipment for Mack's, a new bar and grill he and his co-owners plan to open on Howdershell Road.
While acknowledging the original traffic violation, he said he didn't resist arrest or attack the officer. "There is no way that I could kick him from the back seat."
During his attempts to subdue Jones, the officer used his department-issued Taser, the department release said. Jones was later booked and released. He has been charged with third-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and property damage
