Eminem's 'Relapse 2' Pushed Back, 'Relapse:Refill' To Drop Dec. 21 With 7 New Tracks
"Relapse 2," the planned sequel to Eminem's comeback album, has been pushed back to next year. The album was originally scheduled to drop right before the end of 2009.
Instead Eminem has set a Dec. 21 release for "Relapse: Refill," a beefed-up edition of "Relapse." The enhanced version will feature seven bonus tracks, including five previously unreleased songs.
"I want to deliver more material for the fans this year like I originally planned," the rapper said via a press release this afternoon.
Those bonus cuts apparently include material originally intended for "Relapse 2," which Eminem says is now headed in a new direction.
"I got back in with Dre and then a few more producers, including Just Blaze, and went in a completely different direction which made me start from scratch," he said in the statement. "The new tracks started to sound very different than the tracks I originally intended to be on Relapse 2, but I still want the other stuff to be heard."
One thing is almost sure, 50 cent's Before I Self-Destruct album won't top the charts for its debut.
HitsdailyDouble released sales projections today and 50 Cent is on track to sell between 150 and 160,000 copies on his first week. Will the Interscope machine make sure this doesn't happen?
John Mayer should get the #1 spot with close to 300,000 sales while a battle for the second spot will probably take place between Casting Crowns, Norah Jones and 50 Cent.
50 Cent's album was released on iTunes one week prior to the official store release so we will see if Nielsen Soundscan takes those sales into account.
This is still a big disappointment as his previous album, Curtis, sold 691,000 copies in its first week (September 11, 2007.)
Gucci Mane Releases Statement From Jail, Talks Album
Gucci Mane, who was sentenced to 12 months in Fulton County Jail in Georgia due to a probation violation, was informed by the courts that he is eligible for release in 6 months or less. Gucci has given the following statement in regards to his legal troubles:
"I have accepted full responsibility for my actions and I am ready to deal with what is in front of me right now. Thankfully, my label is still moving forward with my album release so I will have plenty to look forward to when I get out. I am remaining positive and want my fans to know that I am grateful for their loyalty and continued support. I will get through this."
In spite of Gucci's recent incarceration, Asylum/Warner Bros. Records have decided to continue forward with the release of Gucci's first major album, The State vs Radric Davis, on December 8. The album includes features by Keyshia Cole, Lil Wayne', Soulja Boy, Keri Hilson and Usher among others.
