| Just
weeks ago we were all hit with the horrific news of Justo Faison's accident.
Not only was the pioneering promoter responsible for the Mixtape Awards ; the only award show geared to celebrate and show appreciation to the grind and dedication of the Mixtape DJ. He was a dedicated father, the best son a mother could have and a friend to many. The news devastated hundreds of people in and out of the music industry. Many sent donations in to help his family, others tried to cope by starting internet memorial pages where literally hundreds signed and left their heartfelt thanks and condolences. Although
I may not be able to ease the pain running through the hearts of you all,
I can assure you of this. "When
u give awards to everybody else, whose gonna reward you?. . . ." Friends
of Justo have already executed the plans for the 10th Annual Justo's Mixtape
Awards, set for November/December. Stay on your grind. Contributions
for his son are still greatly appreciated. The Faison family thanks all
that have offered monetary and emotional support. Send
all other inquiries to Justosmta@gmail.com Peace
& Blessings

We asked some DJs to write a few lines about Justo:
DJ Bijal
Justo was a great guy, always gave me a call if he had something going on that
I could be a part of to help me out. From my mixtapes appearing in anything
he was apart of to offering me a slot on his music choice radio show. Always
trying to what he can to give mixtape djs exposer. Although, I never had to
chance to meet him in person he was a great person always willing to help out
the new guys on the block. Justo strived to increase the value djs and as done
so, we will miss him for he has done more for us then was asked of him. You
will be missed.
DJ Showtime
Just O was a close friend of mine. Notice I said FRIEND. The Mixtape awards
are a great achievement for the DJ and Just O had mad love for us. But in the
same breath, the man was my friend. We talked about more than music, we were
friends. I'm going to miss my boy for real.
Doo Wop
If there was a "union" for dj's, Justo would be the president.
He made people look at us in a higher regard. Justo went in his own pocket to
start the mixtape awards. There'll NEVER be another. Rest in peace fam
DJ Excel - Skr@tch M@k@niks
I never had the chance to meet Justo but from what I've heard about him recently,
it is a great loss for myself & all of those who do know him..... As well
as those, like myself who havent's had the chance. It's always the good one's
that go too soon.
DJ Irie - Official DJ of the Miami HEAT and 99 Jamz Miami
I wasnt a Mixtape DJ when Justo first reached out to me.
I knew
who he was and what he did and I had a lot of respect for him for dedicating
soo much of his time to DJs.
But the day that Justo called me to tell me how cool he thought it was for me
to be djs for an NBA team it blew me away.
I was like this guy talks to the biggest djs in the business like all
the time and hes calling me to give ME props!!
It took me a while to grasp it and just figure out how cool JUSTO was. We became
good friends after that 1st conversation and my face always lit up when I saw
Justos name on my caller ID cuz I knew I was about to talk to someone
special.
Justo Thanks for being wonderful person you are and always will be in my heart
Your Friend
Irie
DJ Tafari
Rest in Peace to one of the few cats in the game in it for the love of the
Art and the Music rather than the industry & hype. Condolences to his family,
especially his Mother & young son.
DJ Wreck
Philly's #1 mixtape DJ
I knew Justo for over 10 yrs. He was a good dude, who I respected a lot. He
was a person to know in the industry, who helped the mixtape game get to where
it is. He always showed me and others respect. He is a V.I.P. in the mixtape
industry, and he will be missed. He set an example who many should follow.
J-Love

life... A man full of love for others, he will be sorrily missed by myself and
many others, one love. j-love
DJ Babe
Justo was good peeps, he reached out to me several times and I thought
with all of the DJs in NYC why did dude call up a DJ in Detroit to get features
in The Source and to introduce me to other industry folks. I really appreciated
the things he did for me. I just sent him a new mixtape last week and thought
about calling him Saturday for feedback, then I got the call. My thoughts are
with his family, I appreciated the man.
DJ June Buhg
& DJ Tecneek (Orlando MixTape Kingz)
My condolenses go out to the Faison Family. I was not fortunate enough to meet
Justo but I was fortunate to have communication with him thru email. Justo took
DJ's like me to another level and recognized us for the artist we are. He opened
up the eyes to the industry letting everyone know that if it wasn't for us...the
DJ's...the HipHop culture would be lost! May he rest in peace.
DJ Skream

Justo is a definite loss to the mixtape game! i send my deepest love to his
family. my name is DJ Flaco (Flacoflash) Ohio's reggaeton mixtape king (period).
I never got to meet Justo but, i know the impact that he had and, will always
have on the mixtape game. i am willing to contribute some of my time to create
a mixtape with any other DJ who is willin to put a mixtape together in memory
of Justo. Lets all get together and keep whatt he started alive.(let's put the
egos aside)
R.I.P. Justo, "always remembered"
DJ Eclipse (Non Phixion, Halftime Radio Show, Rock Steady Crew, Fat Beats)
Justo was truly one of the very few people in the "industry" who was
a genuinely nice guy. If there was anything he could do for you, he would. Regardless
of whether it benefited him or not. I met Justo back in the Nervous Records
days when he was pushing the Boot Camp Clik projects. He was a promo guy that
I actually got to know outside of the business. That's rare. His passing is
just another reality check that anyone can go at anytime no matter who they
are. My condolences go out to his family.
