Termanology
and DC's Out The Gate
Statik Selektah Intro - Statik Selektah is my dude and we wanted him
involved in the album. He did the beat and cut. This is a perfect introduction
for the album.
This Is Hip-Hop - This is the oldest track on album. It was done in
2003. This is about my whole life, growing up, and listening to Hip Hop.
Hip Hop really influences you. That's why I like that Saigon commercial
on MTV. I wanted to pay homage to all the cats like Gangstarr.
Motion Picture - This is me trying to touch little kids and tell them
that it's not really all fun and games out there. If you want to run around
and say that you're a gangster rapper, people are going to show up and
try to find out if you really are a gangster rapper. I try to tell the
kids to go to school and get a job because this isn't for everybody.
22 Years - In this I went through my whole life and the biggest things
that happened to me that made me the person I am right now.
Welcome 2 The Hood feat. Krumbsnatcha and Hectic - This is a real
special record for me because it's one of the first records I did with
Krumbsnatcha. He's one of the biggest and most respected artists to come
out of Boston. Hectic is doing five years right now in a correctional
facility. I had to put this on there to hold Hectic down.
Out The Gate feat. ST Da Squad - This is the title track for the album.
This was done in '04.
Brotherly Love feat. Ed Rock and Snuk - Those two dudes right there
are my brothers. I feel like they're two of the nicest up-and-coming rappers.
We had to do something in the family.
Circle Of Life feat. Lee Wilson - This is about my daughter Aaliyah.
I do everything for her. I live for her. Here, I'm talking about some
of the struggles I'm going through being a single parent. It's not easy
raising a woman.
When We Were Kids feat. Akrobatik and Jordan - This was a real fun
track. I was just taking it back to the old days and bugging out, like
writing graffiti and things like that.
Baby feat. Lee Wilson - This one came out crazy. We went to the studio
and the beat was playing. This wasn't even my beat. Lee started singing
to the beat and it sounded crazy. He went in and freestyled his part and
I went in and freestyled my verse. We took the song home, worked on it,
and then re-recorded it.
My Life feat. L Da Headtoucha - I wanted to do a joint with L. I always
admired him. We got in there and we were talking about how you do a lot
of things in your life that you're not necessarily proud of, but you have
to do it and get through it.
Ain't Gonna Be Rich 2 Ball feat. Shells and Snuk - This is crazy right
here. We did this having a blast talking about how you could bag the hottest
bitch in the party with no money.
Mommy, Daddy, Grandma - This is a three-page letter. I wrote a letter
to each person telling them that I hope they're happy with the way I turned
out. I may not have turned out exactly how they wanted me to, being that
I'm not a doctor or lawyer, but I hope that they're happy and proud of
me.
Never Be the Same feat. Ed Rock, Ghetto and Checkmark - This is about
when you have a friend that you do everything together and then he stabs
you in the back on some grimy shit.
Takin' You With Me - I have a lot of enemies out here. Mass is a crazy
place. Some parts are nice. Lawrence is crazy. There are a lot of shootings
and murders. Niggas always want to test us. I cut up a line from Prodigy,
"Taking my enemies with me."
Ain't Fuckin' With This feat. Prospect (of Terror Squad) - I've got
a whole bunch of joints with Prospect. This is the first joint we ever
did. We just went in there, vibed out, and banged out the track. Shout
out to Prospect, he's doing his thing right now.
Ready feat. Esoteric and Gutta - Esoteric is my man. Gutta is my cousin.
We wanted to take an unsigned cat and a signed cat and put them together
on a track like we did with Krumbsnatcha and Hectic or Shells and Snuk.
It's important to do that to show that it doesn't matter if you have a
deal or not as long as you can body the mic.
P-N-C Outro - That stands for "Partners 'n' Crime." DC and
I did about 40 tracks and cut it down to 18. This is a shout out to the
Boot Camp and we're giving a shout-out to everyone that supported us throughout
the making of "Out the Gate."
The Anthem (bonus track) - We did this one leading into '06. This
is talking about my area and how there's a lot of murders out here. I'm
trying to show the world what goes on in Mass.
I'm
really proud of this project. We wanted this to have the continuity of
a Pete Rock and CL Smooth album. I A&R'd it, got all the beats together,
wrote everything
I'm really proud of this. I hope the world is ready
for this. I'm working on a solo album right now. I have a song done with
Nottz from VA. I just linked up with DJ Premier and got a beat from him.
I'm about to get in the lab with him. I'm hosting a DJ Jedi mixtape and
I'm on Statik Selektah's G-Unit mixtape. I'm just trying to keep spreading
the music.
*all tracks produced by DC the MIDI Alien, except "The Anthem,"
which was produced by DC and PT.
