Sharkey - Sharkey's Machine

Sharkey is a real interesting musician. He comes from a diverse musical backgrond which gives his sound a nice edge thats been lacking in a lot of Hip Hop music lately. The album, released by Babygrande, is a mix between many different musical genres, but it's definitely something your system and cool out to.
Grand Puba lays down one of the dopest cuts on the album with "All For Nothing." Brand Nubian is finally back! Jean Grae comes through for a dope song on "Summer In the City (Lovin' It)" as she lays down her rhymes over a fresh airy beat produced by Sharkey. Songs like "Slo Mo in the Grotto" show another side of Sharkey as the song takes many twists and turns that'll have your mind spinning. The grimy, hazy beat of "Fuzz" compliments Cannibal Ox well as they make an underground banger.
Give Sharkey a chance. While there are some songs I'm not feeling on the album, I like the diversity of the album and the fact he's willing to take risks on his tracks while some would settle for a more conventional, everyday sound.
