Saigon
- Warning Shots
If you
could look into the future of Hip Hop, one face that would definitely
appear in the crystal ball would be that of Saigon. The Yardfather has
quickly risen to the top spot in Hip Hop's long list of young contenders.
After releasing two successful underground mixtapes with the Drama King
DJ Kay Slay, it's time for Saigon to be introduced to the masses.
Many cuts on this mixtape Heads will already be familiar with from the
mixtapes. "Favorite Things" is hands-down a classic song.
That song showcases Sai's story-telling ability, which is head and shoulders
above most artists in the game. Alchemist laced "Stocking Cap"
which has Sai spitting venomous lines such as "I stand fiv-seven
in court, but boy, when I reach for thou thing, I'm taller than Yao
Ming." The freestyle off of Kay-Slay's show is sick, as he definitely
attempts to incite beef with some of the bigger names in the industry.
His protégé, Mekka Millz, shines on "We Want In,"
which also features Ali Vegas. "N.Y. Streetz" is a grimy track
that has Sai telling more stories while validating his realness, which
a lot of MC's are lacking. "Shok TV" is another classic track
that you'll keep on repeat.
Honestly, there aren't too many albums that are released that are really
worth having. This is one of those albums that you need to cop. It's
definitely worth it. Saigon is the future of Hip Hop, and you will not
regret copping "Warning Shots."
