Wu Tang mutha fuckas!
I bet that's Chong Wizard taking bong hits on the intro too. The Wu can have
that effect on you. I had to roll up a little something before I listened to
these CDs, no bong hits for me man. Is it me or is the Wu relevant to the hip
hop masses again? Raekwon is poised to bring it back for real, we'll have to
wait and see how Cuban Linx 2 does. Ghostface got an album bout to drop, let's
hope Def Jam works that album properly. The GZA/Muggs album was tight and slept
on like a mutha fuka. The GZA will fuck ya head up with the lyrics, he's a true
MC through and through. Wu Tang has always been relevant to me but we need these
new jacks to get on board with some real hip hop.
Of course were
gonna jump off Disc 1 first. You listen to the Intro and tell me Chong Wizard
isn't smoked up right now. "Back In The Air" with ODB is my joint.
I don't know about you but I miss ODB man. I'm still listening to "Back
Like That", Ne-Yo laced this track and Ghostface is at his best with the
raw emotion soaked rhymes. Chong Wizard letting the skills breathe a little
something too, I see you man; cuts was tight. If La The Darkman murders "1000
Grams", straight up the math is as real as you'll hear. Raekwon and Ghost
on that story telling shit with "3 Bricks". Tragedy, Timbo King and
Hell Razah did they thing on "Renaissance". I had this track on rewind
for a minute, peep it. I didn't like the hook on "The Answer:" but
the rhymes were potent, especially Ghostface: "Ya'll be nice to crack heads/
everybody listen up/ I shot one of my bitches/ the ho ain't trick enough."
On that rare shit, Chong Wizard hits you in the head with RZA on "Odyssey".
Never heard this but the shit was fly. You gotta peep GZA's son Justice on "Killa
Hills 04", like father like son.
Ahhh, the remix
disc is up next. I don't know if you heard but I fuck with remixs people. "Cuttin
It Up" is a pimped out Wu remix for the ages, Chong Wizard capturing the
Wu vibe with precision. "Ol Dirty vs Human League" was boom bangin.
I can't think of another beat to use with "Shimmy Shimmy Ya". If you
don't know what Human League song they used then start diggin'. Ghost sprayed
fire on the "Mighty Healthy" remix. The beat was some neck snapping
shit. I really couldn't get into the "Criminology" Remix, knowing
the original and how militant that beat is this laid back shit just didn't cut
it. I think they came off with "3rd World" remix though. The beat
let GZA's words shine on some north star type shit. On to some true mixtape
shit. Akir catches fire over "4th Chamber", I fuck with this track
man. The shit that really really got me was Grafh on "Brooklyn Zoo 2006".
He flipping words with ease and got an untouchable delivery.
The concept and
the work that was put in on these CDs is undeniable. The only thing Chong Wizard
forgot to put on the cover was "Collectors Edition". Both CDs are
raw beats and raw rhymes. Mr. Wizard laces you with some new 2006 Wu music while
giving you some classics, remixes and those rare joints. He's got all angles
covered. Only thing left for you to do is figure out how you're gonna get a
copy.
