Who exactly is IllStrip?

You got three major players in IllStrip. Mar-Var [MC/Producer], MooDoo [MC], and Karam aka Uncle Stigz [MC]. We also got Young IllStrip. You'll get your chance to check them out on the upcoming Mix Tape.

What made you guys want to come together and how did you originally meet?

Mar-Var & MooDoo are brothers, born and raised in Delaware. Karam aka Uncle Stigz is from Camden, NJ. Mar-Var & MooDoo's father introduced us to Karam back in 98. We were blown away by Karams rap skills. And he was feeling the same way about us. Especially when he heard the beats Mar was cooking up. We just connected from the jump. How would you describe IllStrip's sound?

Our sound is IllStrip. It's kind of hard to explain it. It's what we do, how we live. We just express it through the beats and rhymes. Once the music gets out there you'll see. We just doing us.

Who handles the majority of IllStrip's production?

Mar-Var has been handling all of the projects since the beginning. We have other producers with in our circle working on perfecting their craft, Tigg and G. Tigg did the "My Nigga" track off of our "IllStrip Reloaded" Mix Tape. Look out for them on future releases. Any Producers, Beat Makers etc… GET @ US…! We looking for outside production for MooDoo's solo.

What do you look for in beats?

MooDoo: Dark, Grimey , Slimey, but it's gotta make you move. If it aint movin' me then I'm not feeling it.

What projects have you released so far?

Officially we are on our 4th Mix Tape. Previously we had "IllStrip - Mix Tape" [Self Titled], "IllStrip - I'm Committed", and our most recent "IllStrip - Reloaded". All of them should be available via IllStrip.com around the same time "Either You I.S. Or You Aint" … The Mix Tape drops.

How is the album coming?

We can't really answer that right now. We just recently made the decision to go with MooDoo's solo album due to the response we've been getting back from the Mix Tapes. And the fact that every time MooDoo steps in the booth he comes out with a hit [i.e.. listen to "I Remember"]. So it's currently in its beginning stages. But it's our goal to make an album that will have a huge impact. Depending on how the recording is going we may release the solo after "Either You I.S. or You Aint" …The Mix Tape.

What are you looking to release next?

"Either You I.S. Or You Aint" … The Mix Tape, Hosted By DJ Mega Skillz. We have a deadline of July 1st to have the Mix Tape completed. Sometime after that it will go on sale via the Streets and the Internet. IllStrip.com currently has 18 Sample tracks that will be featured on the Mix Tape, check them out and leave us some feedback in our guest book.

Why should we check for IllStrip?

We're like the East Coast version of a Down South artist. We don't care what you think about the music, we doing us. We not following any trends and we don't sound like you're your favorite artist, north, south, east or west. But we have a sound that could make us your favorite artist. Eventually everyone will catch on, because we make good music. If not, its cool you can't satisfy everyone. That's what we mean by "Either You "IS" or You Aint".
