June 10th, 2003 Next time you go to a store, check the newest issue of Spin Magazine. Find
the Ludacris interview, and check what hes wearing. Luda was wearing the exact
same gear when he came through Charlottesville, VA for the concert! I thought
you were a baller Cris, and I don't want to hear any excuses about how the interview
was on the same day as the concert, because the Minute Man wasnt doing any interviews
while he was there. Besides that, he also wouldnt do any drops for the local
DJs who play his shit constantly. I am actually gonna go see 2 Fast 2 Furious
just to see if hes wearing the same University of South
Florida jersey. I guess hes a bigger fan of them than I realized.
Malicious a.k.a. The Peoples Choice has just put out his latest mixtape, which
is Volume 3. Check the exclusive interview I did with Malicious for the 411,
but he straight up handled Malice of the Clipse, and you wont be hearing the
Patty Cake Man yelling
out Malicious anymore. Anyway look for the tape, the People's Choice is comin
out hard.
DJ RushHour just put out Tha Traffic Jam Beat Down Volume 1. RushHour is easily
Charlottesvilles best DJs, and no doubt one
of the best in VA. Hes been putting out a lot of hot tapes lately, and he's
making noise outside of VA as well. This tape has a lot of new stuff, as well
as some old school classics. What I like about RushHours tapes is how he scratches
throughout the album. Too many DJs are just playing tracks, but its the extra
effort and skill
that set RushHour apart. If youre looking to cop any of his albums, his contact
info is:djrushhour@hotmail.com".
Big ups to Tribeca, who's finally getting the respect he deserves inthe mainstream
magazines. Check the new XXL to see Beca in the Show and Prove section. Also
gotta get you up on a few Tribeca related updates. His website recently launched,
you can check that at HYPERLINK www.tribecaworld.com.
Also, Tribecas new single, Charlie Hustle is dropping soon. The B- Side for
his latest, "City's Finest," has the tight Tribeca and Doujah Raze
collaboration Throw Heat. That joint is fire, and if you haven't copped Doujah's
Spinmata with the Beatminaz production, then you are sleeping. Check www.trilogyonwax.com
for
that.
More props to XXL for finally putting Akrobatik in their mag, but he's long
overdue as well, as he's been one of the tightest in the game for more than
a minute. I love "Balance" more everytime I hear it, and the new joint
he did with Lif and Fakts One called "Show Starter" is one of the
best songs I've heard in awhile. It's on vinyl now, but it'll also be on Fakts
One's debut album. Check that song, I'm telling you it's fire. The rest of XXL
was so wack that I can't even read it. I don't even
think its good enough to use for toilet paper. First off they played the illest
female lyricist, Jean Grae, in their "Negro Please" section for not
being able to afford a wedding. Damn, they're gonna play her like that and then
have Foxy Brown on the cover. And then to further complement their annual Sex
issue, they ask rappers questions that no one besides groupies could possibly
want to know. I'll bet you didn't know important facts like these: Big Boi likes
to watch women masturbate, Peedi Crack doesn't like dirty thongs, so if he sees
one you better ring the alarm, B.G. was able to get his "jerk- off on in
a major way" when he was doing a bid, and Jim Jones likes girls with tattoos
on their arms. Seriously, how wack can this get? XXL, step ya game up.
One album I seriously can't wait for is Mike Nardone's "We Came From Beyond
Vol. 2." If you remember the dope cast he had for Volume One, then wait
til you hear who's comin on Two. Makin the cut are Apathy and Celph-Titled of
the Demigodz, J-Zone, People Under the Stairs, Esoteric, Wildchild of Lootpack
fame, Lateef and Chief Xcel reppin Quannum along with the Lifesavas, and J-Live.
I could go on and just list the whole roster, but its so deep you'd need a lifejacket.
Mike Nardone has made a huge impact on the underground, beacuse he's been holding
it down on radio in L.A., getting acts like Jurassic 5 and Dilated Peoples in
the spotlight before everyone else hopped on. Be on the look out for Smoke Bulga,
cat is makin moves from Boston. Remember the name, you know where you heard
it first.
Before I'm out, check the new reviews and interviews up on the site, also can't
forget the audio. Thats all I got.
