Ya
know what time it is....it's 730 ! Nov. 16 2004
So the election
came and went, Bush got elected, P.Diddy didn’t kill me, and my write-in
campaign failed miserably. I was tryin to get everyone to write in Saigon as
our president. Think about it, what country would fuck with us if Saigon was
our president? Make Immortal Technique VP, and we’d be unstoppable. No
one would evade their taxes, because if you have the threat of Poison Pen knocking
on your door you’re definitely gonna pay. Juelz and Cam would definitely
have high-profile jobs in the government, I don’t know exactly what but
it wouldn’t be a government without Juelz Santana.
Sometimes I think
labels are run by fuckin gerbils. Seriously, a lot of these major labels are
so stupid I don’t know why anyone would want to work with them. There’s
cool people at every label, but on a whole, a lot of these labels are so out
of touch with real Hip Hop its disgusting. One label sent us songs to be posted,
and then another division of the label got at us about taking the songs down
because we were contributing to piracy. Fucking morons. Songs can’t be
downloaded off the site and it’s not piracy its promotion.
Flava Flaaav! Flav
is killin’ it on VH1’s “The Surreal Life,” except for
the fact that he beats puppies…That really surprised me. Uncle Joey is
on there looking the exact same except that he doesn’t have the mullet.
While I’m
talking about Full House, Mary Kate recently dropped out of NYU…Apparantly
the cafeteria food wasn’t good.
Word is no one
likes the “Encore.” Personally, I’m not feeling the album.
What, no one wants to put the song “Weenie” on heavy rotation? The
album sounds more like pop music than Hip Hop, which is a good sign for Em’s
sales. It’s unfortunate though for Hip Hop who’s been waiting for
this album to drop and then it turns out to be wack. I was hoping that Eminem’s
verse on “Lean Back Remix” and his other stuff of late was all a
joke so we’d all be like, “fuck dude Eminem fell off” and
then he hits with a classic album. Apparently that’s not the case.
So Chingy gets
the cover of XXL. Wow. How does Chingy get the cover of a Hip Hop mag? Capitol
must be paying some nice bills XXL owes, because nothing else can explain it.
XXL rose to popularity by capitalizing off of the Source’s beef with Eminem
and 50 Cent, as they embraced everything Interscope. It looks like that is gonna
backfire now with Eminem losing his Hip Hop Cred faster than BET shut down his
video. Now that Ja is back, XXL is gonna have to come out with a monster issue
to recover from having Chingy on their cover. Oh yeah, and props to Elemental
and all the independent Hip Hop mags like Rap Fanatic, Hood Grown, and Urban
Timez, for making good magazines and staying true to Hip Hop.
Zion I came through
my city for a show. We don’t get a lot of Hip Hop shows out here, so of
course I was there…anyway they ripped it. Ab Rude, Aceylone, and Mikah-9
came through, as well as Ice Cube’s cousin Del. The A-Team was ok, but
Zion I was dope. I’ve been a fan of them for the longest and seeing them
live was definitely worth it.
Why is Talib Kweli
always making excuses? First he told us he does what he does to “Get By”
and now he “tries.” The songs are so similar that you gotta think
the labels were scared to put anything else out on Kweli for fear of a flop.
Who knows what Kweli’s next single will be, maybe “it’s not
my fault” or something. Who cares about Kweli anyway Dip Set’s about
to drop!
Word is the Jay-Z/R.Kelly
tour fell apart because the Pied Piper is mad that Jay-Z is getting more attention.
If that’s the case, can we really be surprised that a dude who goes after
little girls? Props to the dude that pepper sprayed him too.
Born Unique just
dropped two mixtapes at once, I definitely recommend copping both of those where
you can.
Some new 730 projects
to watch for: The Overkast Records Blue Hill Avenue Mixtape, the Instrumental
Apparel Mixtape, Rap Insanity Part 2, The Jacka Mixtape, The Renegadez Mixtape,
plus a lot more, don’t sleep!
