It’s official…ya boy is the newest official member of Little
Egypt…big things in the works! www.littleegypt-ny.com,
hit it up.
Also got some news. Stat Quo signed to Shady Records,
also, Sway and Tech recently signed to J Records,
look for some dope things to be in the works… Mick Boogie, the Midwest’s hottest mixtape DJ, is workin
on the “Best of Jay-Z.” That should be straight
fire if you’ve ever heard Mick’s other mixtapes.
Gotta send a shout out to Crisis Center. These cats are really
doin it right now, they got mixtapes on lock and they're doing a ton of radio
interviews right now. Don't sleep on these guys, get at them at www.crisiscenterpro.com.
One group that you definitely need to keep an eye on is Raw Dialect.
The six-man crew from Baltimore has a lot of dope music. I just got their EP,
and it’s very dope. It’s available on cdbaby.com. You can check
out the group at www.rawdialect.com.
An MC who’s got a pretty dope album coming out soon is Wunda.
His album, called “Live from the 845.” Mixtape DJ’s, don’t
sleep on the BX’s Wunda, holla at brusewane@hotmail.com for more info.
I was in a Footaction this past weekend tryin to get some fresh
tees, and Northern State was playing over their system. That
shit was so horrible, I had to leave until that song ended. Who the fuck gave
them a microphone? And who the fuck told them they sound good? I don’t
know what the fuck that fuckin shit was, I was so angry hearing that. I checked
their tracks out at the local music store when they were first coming out, and
I could not believe what I was hearing. Rolling Stone was all
on them, so I figured there had to be something to them, but there’s really
not. Northern State just flat out sucks. No more records, please.
The new Rahzel album is gonna be crazy. From what I’ve
heard, it sounds real tight. Tonedeff, KRS-ONE, RZA, the Gravediggaz,
the Roots, plus others make appearances. “Rahzel’s Greatest
Knockouts” is scheduled to drop on January 27th. DJ Russ is doing it big out in Salt Lake City. He just dropped
a dope mixtape with the Zapdog Clothing Line. This has new material from T.O.N.E,
Manifest Destiny, Magnum Opus, and the Great
Mindz, among others. T.O.N.E does a dope Zapdog freestyle. The M.O.
track, "Can't Get Enough," sounds very dope. Ibex drops a dope track
"Growing Pains" as well. E-Mid, who's one-half of
Manifest Destiny, along with Intellect, kills Juelz' "Santana's Town"
beat from the start with lines like "I was never the type to be following
trends, so I put poison in your Hyponotiq and a bomb in your Benz." The
Great Mindz kill Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones Part 2" beat. Holla at Russ
at dj_russ19@hotmail.com DJ K-Swiv just dropped his mixtape “No Way Out Part 3”
hosted by Jinx Da Juvy. Fat Joe’s new
shit “Oh Yeah” is very dope, I’ve been waiting for some new
shit from him. The Jinx freestyle over “Where Da Hood At” is very
dope. There’s some dope interludes featuring Chris Rock’s comedy.
Holla at K-Swiv at madeones@triplefunlimited.com, and hit up www.triplefunlimited.com
too while you’re at it.
Don’t sleep on DJ A.M.F. coming out of Detroit. One of
the dopest DJ’s in the Midwest, A.M.F.’s latest mixtape “The
One” is a straight-up party cd. He’s not really dropping exclusives
on here, instead it’s got all the joints that are party tracks that keep
the ladies on the floor. And would a Detroit mixtape be complete without King
Gordy, who comes through on “Fight.” A.M.F. also remixes Eminem’s
“My Name Is” with the “Damn” beat, which is an interesting
mix. It sounds real tight tho. Holla at DJ A.M.F. at djamf@aol.com. DJ Solid is back with “Coming for the Crown Part 4.”
This mixtape is hosted by the Hyytaz (www.milkentertainment.com) and the Silverback
Gorillas, which is made up of Bang ‘Em Smurf and Domination. Both crews
come through for some dope freestyles. Ali Vegas is coming
hard with some freestyles, I haven’t heard much about him lately. Redman,
Erick Sermon, and Sy Scott have a decent new track called “Close the Club.”
This doesn’t have the hit potential of the E-Double’s “React”
but it’s a nice track. Smooth B from Nice-N-Smooth has a very dope track
with Gangstarr called “Rude Awakening.” It’s great hearing
new material from Smooth B, who’s killing this shit. This track is definitely
the high point of the mixtape, along with Da Hyytaz material. Remember, if you
wanna get at Solid email djsolid88@hotmail.com. Asheru of Unspoken Heard is working on his
solo album now, so far, what I’ve heard is hot. And if you’ve been
sleeping on the Unspoken Heard’s “Soon Come,” you gotta wake
up because that album is a classic.
Big things are coming out of the Hiero camp. Tajai has his
album “The Power Movement” coming out soon, Casual
has his album coming “Casual Presents: Smash Rockwell.” His single
“Rap Game” is very dope. Encore drops a very dope
single which is gonna be 12” soon, “Zigga Zigga.” He has his
coming soon, “Layover.” It’s great seeing the Hieroglyphics
getting press now, its about time. And don’t forget to hit up www.hieroglyphics.com.
