They were playing Utaka out wide on the right with Yakubu and Martins up front, seniority appeared to give Yakubu the left channel but it should have been Martins. Kanu coming off changed the game a lot and as hard as Mikel worked there was nothing for him. That Uzbekh kid was pretty good when he came on.

His free kick that hit the cross bar in the first half was serious, shame he didn't venture foward a bit more often as they had no genuine width on the left wid Yakubu out there... which is never gona work. We saw the "can't be arsed" side of Yak's game today I think. When he's good, he's very good, but equally as bad when he ain't up for the game.
Utaka was quite dissapointing. Yaya Toure played well in midfield, as did Mikel. That keeper tho, for Ivory Coast.... looked very suspect. Didn't have a lot to do 1st half but wha he did do was never convincing. Nigeria mus be pissed they didn't test him more often.
