Why dont they celebrate TD's like they used to?

Have they stopped the celebrations? They've basically taken the emotion from football (soccer) here in celebrations aswell. Fucking bullshit...scoring points or goals is what all team games are about....

They're stifling celebrations to the point that it's like college football. You can't spike the ball after a defensive play (which is a fucking TERRIBLE new rule), you can't have a TD celebration that includes more people than yourself, you can't use props in your TD celebration (see ocho cinco having to tell the crowd to watch him as he had to run to the sideline for his jacket), etc. etc.

    Shits awful.

That is the smartest thing I have ever read on this website. Now basically you're supposed to score and not be happy. FUCK THAT! If you don't want people to celebrate after scoring on you then play better defense.

The game is in the Meadowlands. This comes with the news though that Jacobs and Eli are both out at least a month with different injuries. That means we got Derrick Ward and Jared Lorenzen in our backfield probably until at least Week 6. You never know what can happen, but I don't like the sound of that.

I'm pretty sure Lorenzen is less mobile than Drew Bledsoe was. He makes Bledsoe look like mike vick back there.

The left-handed Lorenzen was well-known at Kentucky for his size, tipping the scales at 322 lbs at one point in his career. He has since slimmed down to around 285 lbs, but is still an intimidating presence behind center. Because of his size he has a collection of colorful nicknames, including "Quarter(got)back",[1] "Hefty Lefty",[2] "The Pillsbury Throwboy",[3] "J.Load",[4] "Round Mound of Touchdown",[4],"BBQ (Big Beautiful Quarterback)"

I like him tho, just cause he's so fat, and cause of stories of him raiding the kitchen when everyone was sleeping at night after the team put him on a strict diet. Which is fucking hilarious.

Yeah thats the reason I posted, I knew Chad Johnson did mad celebrations and they were talking about how he hyped this one up....

Took about 2 minutes for him to do it though....loses the emotion. What a fucking stupid thing...its all about the emotion in scoring and celebrating.

Explain Spiking the ball? Its when they take a knee right? To stop the clock so they can run a better play next down? Or is it to let the clock run down?

Ya. I agree completely. What ocho cinco does is all in fun and is no harm to anyone.

Spiking meaning throwing the ball down at the ground in a celebratory move. You used to be able to throw it down after making an interception or any move on defense. Now they penalize you if you do it.

Taking a knee is when the QB kneels down w/ the ball to keep the clock running. When a QB spikes the ball, it's to stop the clock so they can run another play before time expires.

Who am I supposed to be looking out for this year?

Obviously Reggie Bush, Manning and Brady. But ive ignored Chad Johnson (usually like Vick but...) im looking out for others...and his QB Palmer seemed pretty good.

What about any RB's? What position does Reggie play for NO? Cant he play RB and WR and kick return aswell?

And does Vince Young start as QB?

Other then those named I dont really know too many big hitters in the NFL...Randy Moss with Brady will be sick though right?

Ya. Bush should have a good season. Same with manning.

Bush plays RB. I don't think he does all 3 anymore since he got the starting job.

Yup. He's the starting QB and pretty much the saving grace for the Titans.

Look out for Moss. He killed it on Sunday and it'll be interesting how he does throughout the rest of the season.

Watch out for the Cowboys this season. TO killed it on Sunday and should do the same throughout the season. Also, look for Marion Barber. He is a very underrated RB.

Also, watch out for LT. It'll be interesting to see if he can even come close to what he did last year. In his 1st game this season, the Bears D stopped him with -1 yards at the half.

Lorenzen is more mobile than Bledsoe, probably even more mobile than Eli...at least he was in college, I haven't seen him since.

He does run around more than Eli, so I guess if that qualifies him as mobile than he is. But like you said, the only reason everyone loves him is because he is so fat, they don't like him because he is good. Next week will be his first start (I'm assuming he is going to start) so I'll wait until I see him get at least one full regular season game to form any opinions, but my outlook isn't good.

I'd expect him to start since he came in when Eli went out.

Can't wait to watch a full game with him in. Gonna be interesting if GB can get past ur O line.

Green Bay's defense is actually getting better, so we'll have to see how that turns out. I'm sure without Eli and Jacobs our playcalling will have to change quite a bit for next week.

Derrick Ward actually had a pretty good game against Dallas, so maybe they will try to feature him and Droughns more to take some pressure off Lorenzen. However, if our defense plays as bad as it did in Dallas, we may need to start throwing the ball. We have the weapons to catch it, it's just that I doubt Lorenzen will be as advanced in the passing game as Eli.

It's been said Lorenzen has a very strong arm, but it remains to be seen whether or not he can dissect a defense and make the right decisions to make that arm a factor.

Like I said though, I'll wait to form any opinions until after the game next Sunday. Tom Brady, Marc Bulger, Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme and a bunch of other guys all started as unknown backups and became some of the best QB's in the league. While it's asking a lot for Lorenzen to become any of those guys, a lot of NFL players have taken their one chance and run with it to become stars, so you really never know.

Actually now right after I post that I see there are a few conflicting reports as to how severe Eli's injury actually is.

Here are the results of this afternoon's MRIs on quarterback Eli Manning, defensive end Osi Umenyiora and running back Brandon Jacobs. Manning has a contusion to the right A-C joint. His status is day to day for this week's game against Green Bay. Umenyiora has an irritation to the lateral meniscus of his left knee. His status is also day to day and he will be re-evaluated later in the week. Jacobs sprained the MCL of his right knee. He will be evaluated on a week to week basis. The results of the MRI on cornerback Kevin Dockery's ankle were not available as of 5 p.m. today.

Definitely good news to hear that the injuries to Osi and Eli don't seem to be as serious as originally reported. Maybe we won't see the Pillsbury Throwboy next week after all...
