cowboy are you serious thinking the bears will suck? makes no sense you seem to be just a hater. the D is improved yet again
mayor so your serious with this seahawks pick what have they done to improve?

woulda picked the bears, but they have 3 things that pushed me away:
1. no thomas jones... the two-rb system is proven to work best for teams that like to run it alot (indy might see the consequences of this also since they got rid of d.rhodes)... imo for a contending team like chicago, depending on cedric alone is real iffy... he's never been an every-down back, so iono how he'll respond to all these carries - in terms of production, fumbles, and most importantly, health... i could proven wrong here tho, but ima wait and see
2. no ron rivera running the defense this year... hes in san diego, and i know lovie used to help run defenses in st louis and tampa, but iono how diff his schemes will be than riveras... could be proven wrong here also, but ima wait and see
3. rex grossman... could be proven wrong here, but ima REALLY have to wait and see... but you noticed that i picked greg olsen (bears new rookie TE) to be offensive rookie of the year... if rex does what qb's are supposed to do - use the TE as their safety net - then he could cut down on all the forced passes and the team will benefit
woulda picked the saints.... but:
1. they didnt make any real upgrades to their defense (that got torched by the bears last year in the nfc champ gm)... only move they made was signing jason david away from the colts, but they needed to do ALOT more than that if they wanna start shuttin ppl down
2. they got the jump on alotta ppl who didnt expect them to have such an explosive offense in 06, but d-coordinators will have an idea on payton's tendencies and how to slow em down a lil better now, and with their o-line already gettin banged up, they'll need to work twice as hard to get back where they were last year even
but i picked the seahawks for a couple reasons...
1. hasselbeck and alexander are healthy... and i know thats not a guarantee to last all year, but they both got injured at crucial moments last year and that cost em alot down the stretch
2. they upgraded the defensive line, replacing winstrom with kerney... when PK is healthy, he's an overall better DE than wistrom imo (he was just too expensive for atlanta)... that d-line was banged up last year a lil bit also
3. their secondary is finally healthy... trufant and dyson (06 starting corners) were hurt in the last part of the season... same thing with their s.safety ken hamlin, but hes gone to the cowboys now... dyson went to tennessee and theyre gonna let babineaux start at cb opposite trufant (whos one of the better cb's in the league imo)... upgraded at safety also with deon grant replacing hamlin, healthy or not
4. they finally get a whole year with deion branch at reciever... remember he only came to seattle like 10 weeks into last year after his holdout/trade from new england after midseason... hes still young and one of the underrated wrs in the league imo... with a whole offseason and reg season to gel, he could easily put up twice the numbers that darrell jackson was doin

^^Nice little breakdown... Cowboy's are just as good, and imo better than any of those teams tho... and I hate the Seahawks
One thing that has me turned on to the Bears..... I've heard Devin Hester at WR is the best thing since sliced bread, and once he perfects his route running it's gonna be problems for people tryin to cover him
AFC Champ - Patriots over Broncos
NFC Champ - Cowboys over Bears
Super Bowl - Cowboys upset Patriots
MVP - LT
Offensive rookie - Calvin Johnson.... but if Adrian Peterson gets to carry the load in Minny... it'll be him
Defensive rookie - TBA
All subject to change and will get more in-depth in the comin days....... just wanted to get a few of the easy ones out of the way and get into the mix.....

cowboys are a solid team... but there's a couple things i didnt like about them this year also
1. terrell and terry are getting older... and more and more injury prone as time passes... theyre gonna have to start getting other wrs involved or else when they do get hurt, it'll be unproven wrs comin in and depended on to make plays... and i just dont know if cats like crayton are ready for that just yet
2. if you look at the overall picture of his starts last season, tony romo didnt really prove to be that much better than bledsoe as their starter imo... and with a contract on the line and the end to last years season hangin over him, iono if he's capable of puttin all that to the side and gettin the job done against a pretty rough schedule this year
3. wade philips has never really proven himself to be a head coach... if they go into a 2 game slide, will he know how to right the ship? hasnt proven that yet in his career at his other stops... maybe this will be diff, but again, its a wait and see for me

I have some BIG time faith in Romo (obviously)..... but some of the reasons I like 'em and some of the concerns are:
I think the defense is gonna be one of the best around this year (Spencer and Ware are gonna wreak havoc outta that 3-4) Henry is still alittle bit of a weak spot at corner, and Roy's coverage... or Roy's desire to make the big play and blow coverage is always a potential liability... but Davis is a big addition on that O-line, and Jones is gonna run alot better under Philips than he did Parcells while still getting Barber his touches.
Sam Hurd (San Antonio!)... showed signs last year, TO and Romo both love the guy, and he's only gettin better. Between him and Crayton, they can do a pretty good job of fillin in for one or the other if they have to..... not both tho, and not for a majority of the season or the for the playoffs
plus, somethin like what happened last year with Romo can't happen again.... right???
(I honestly don't believe they'll beat the Patriots tho.... I just want 'em to)

the addition of ken hamlin at free safety could pay HUGE dividends because when healthy, dude is a ballhawk and can disrupt any vertical gameplan imo... but the question is, is he fully recovered from that skull injury... because we all know the cowboys biggest issue in recent history has been stoppin the deep passes, especially when roy gets caught in deep coverage (which is not his strength at all)
wade is an excellent def. coordinator... ill give him that... but as a head coach, hes unproven... same goes for jason garrett as the OC callin plays for the first time... expectationa are high, but questions remain

Forgot to mention Hamlin, I think he's gonna pay off like you said....... Roy just needs to play smarter and stop tryin to freestyle out there, but then again, that's what made him who he is, and I don't think he's gonna change...
Williams and Henry in coverage are definatly my biggest concerns too tho.... Henry's basically alot like the CB version of Roy, good, but gets in trouble in deeper coverage, usually because he was outta position or takin unnecceassy chances tryin to freestyle and make somethin happen
I'm interested to see how/what Garrett's gonna do.... he could be the X-factor that either makes or breaks 'em

I might wanna change my ROY pick to Adrian Peterson...
He was killing last night. 70 yards on just 8 carries. The whole Jets defense looked sluggish the entire game from the starters to the people fighting to make the team. And my boy Pennington looked HORRIBLE. On the other hand, the Vikings defense looked outstanding and their defensive line got a good push on the Jets O-line like every play. Leon Washington looked pretty good at RB though. If they try a 2 RB system there with him and Thomas Jones, they may have something there. I still like the Jets to make the playoffs as a wild cardOriginally Posted by jamalicious
