Default The Official 2007-2008 NBA Season Thread: It's Playoff Time!

Oden, Conley, and Cook from OSU just announced that they're entering....

July 28th is the date I believe... this is going to be the deepesst draft in a while... even moreso than '03 imo

Yup, it's legit....looks like he's going the way of Marvin Williams....btw i'd pick Durant over Oden with the 1st pick but that's just me.

    Depends on the team

But, it's A LOT easier to find a wing player then can score alot then it is a post man that can control the paint......is Durant amazing? yes, but the difference in production of what he can do at the next level to the next guy is smaller then compared to someone like Oden and any other center, guys like Durant, wing players who can score at ease, come every 2 or 3 years in the draft.....but big men like oden? once every 10

I wouldn't neccessarily call Oden a great Center. To me has doesn't even have D-12's game....so in that case would the last great Center drafted be Dwight?

oden's gonna have to refine his offense to become great.. that takes time, so i wont call him great now but he does have the potential for greatness imo

dwight's gotta become a more consistent offensive force and get more post moves to become great also... thats why i said duncan... hes earned that label

Duncan, Dwight, etc. are all power forwards

Oden is 18 and dominated the Florida post players, two of which will be lottery picks....he does need to work on his offense, but he can score with both hands (not many big men can), throws it down with force, has the hook shot down, the biggest thing he'll have to work on is controlling the dribble and the turnovers, if he can do that and get a little drop step going, he'll be a 24 + a game guy, 12 boards, 4 blocks by his 3rd year

Understandable, but considering the two are pretty close in age I don't see why people are that hyped up about Oden when there is a young "Better than Oden" Center in the L right now. You give Dwight a 75 free throw percentage and he's averaging 20 and 13.

dwight was recruited to go to UNC to play center and has the game of a center... his athleticism made the Magic move him to the 4 because ORL needed to matchup with the other PFs in the league

and duncan is a natural center playing power forward... if robinson wasnt already a Spur, duncan wouldve played center from the jump... thats what i meant

^^ only because in college and HS it's kinda hard not to play center at that height, but both came into the league as PF's, Dwight was someone they had hope would move to center

Tim had David Robinson ahead of him the whole time, and Dwight was playing behind....i forget the tall white dudes name, but i think Dwight can eventually move there, but there's really no need since theres not too many centers in the east....shaq, Z, curry, not much

but Tim isn't and won't be a center because he plays face to the basket too much, you can't have your center steppin 15 feet out to shoot banks as a center, that's why he's a perfect power forward
