Is Religion too priveliged in America?
I recently started reading another book which I have been wanting to get my hands on for a while now. The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I started reading yesterday and got no further than the preface when Dawkins pointed out the absurdities that religious belief can conjur up. He brings up many examples and arguments to why religion is given far too much respect in this country which was founded as a secular democracy. It has taken it past the line of freedom of religion and impeded on politics and children's minds. Here is just one of the examples he stated that had me laughing at the hypocrisy, yet angered as a marijuana user that has been threatened with punishment by police before. I hope you read this and realize how apathetic our country has become toward religious privelige provided in at least in part by the state.

Note that it is sufficient that they believe that the drug enhances their understanding. They do not have to produce evidence. Conversly, there is plenty of evidence that cannabis eases the nausea and discomfort of cancer sufferers undergoing chemotherapy. Yet the Supreme Court rulesd, in 2005, that all patients who use cannabis for medicinal purposes are vulnerable to federal prosecution. Religion as ever, is the trump card.

am not christian but i asume that drugs r fobidden in christianity so basiclly God is against nething that alters the brain function includin drugs and alcohole

Of course, there are a plenty of christians who believe god speaks to them on a daily basis. I know a few that believe that leading life without direct guidance from god is dangerous so they consult that little voice in their head every morning.
Reminds me of john edwards answer to a damn good question. It was something like 'When you talk to god how are you sure it's gods voice and not your own?' Dude said..."I just pray to god that he helps me distinguish between my own voice and his." or something to that effect. Which of course is a safe answer for the believers in the crowd but any rational person would laugh at that response.

we do believe that Allah talked to Moses but dats about it, even the Quran was not revealed to Prophet Mohammed directly from Allah it was through Gebrail, so if Allah talks to humans on a regular basis then he would have talked to Prophet Mohammed PBUH
i said i asume that drugs are forbidden in christianity so maybe my asumbtion is wrong, but God is against anything that alters the brain function am not saying God is against pharmaceuticals with similar side effects but look drinkin and taking drugs are both haram because they alter the function of the brain.
