The two former Division I wrestlers traded punches in the early going, with Evans – who was coming off a second round knockout of Jason Lambert at UFC 63 - holding the edge thanks to his faster hands. Two minutes in, Salmon was able to get Evans to the mat and he worked quickly to get into side control. Evans fought his way back up, only to get tagged by a left-right by Salmon, and a few seconds later, the Ohio resident got another takedown. Once standing again, the two scored evenly, with Evans getting the last shot in via a kick just before the bell.

Early in the second, Evans got back in gear, hurting Salmon briefly with strikes to the head and a follow-up flurry. Smelling blood, Evans moved in carefully and threw a perfect right kick to the head. Salmon was out before he hit the mat and he hit the canvas in a frightening manner. Referee Troy Waugh jumped in to halt the fight, and luckily, medical personnel were on the scene immediately after. After a few tense moments, Salmon was alert and speaking before being taken from the Octagon on a stretcher as a precautionary measure. He was sent to a local hospital, but is doing well and at press time is scheduled to be released.

    UFC On ESPN

The Ultimate Fighting craze appears to be getting bigger in 2007, much bigger. According to the Boston Herald , the UFC could be landing soon on ESPN.

Dana White, president of the UFC, told the paper that ESPN is very interested in having the UFC on their network, and he is already planning a trip to New York to hold meetings with the network.

"All the top meetings over there are about the UFC,” said White. “When they start talking about this stuff on ‘SportsCenter,’ that’s really going to help us. That’s going to help us get to the next level."

The UFC already has HBO coming into the picture to televise future live events, and they still have an ongoing deal with Spike TV. Due to the heavy demand from major networks for exclusive UFC events, White thinks his company could possibly get the point where they are staging three events per month. But White still thinks it will be a long time before the UFC becomes mainstream.

"We’re the biggest thing on pay per view. We’re bigger than boxing. We’re bigger than WWE. But we’re so (expletive) far from mainstream. Mainstream is Shaquille O’Neal. If Shaq is walking down the street, everyone knows who he is."

“The weird thing about this is Chuck Liddell is one of the biggest superstars in other places. We went to Ibiza, Spain, and he’s getting mobbed there. We couldn’t go anywhere. He goes to New York and people are all over him. I mean, it’s tough to miss a guy with a Mohawk and Chinese writing on his head. They might recognize him, but they don’t immediately know the UFC.”

Fedor already is. I really hope the Pride model for MMA will be more dominant in the world. I enjoy Ring fights with 10 minute first rounds, referee repositions, and open weight tournaments.

damn, boxer make like 10 thousand or so per fight, more than that even, it depends on how big the fight is.But fedor probaly makes more, since he fights like 10 times a year, a boxer fights 2 or more depending on his/her ranking status.

    Here some fights

I dont think Fedor gets paid 1 million, for his last fight against coleman he got $100,000 Coleman got $70,000 what other bonuses there are is unkown but i doubt they would be the equivalent of $900,000

i think Liddel is the best paid fighter, maybe its now cro cop? or rampage? I know cro cops gonna be getting paid still though a boxing prize fighter will make more than an MMA star per fight. MMA is still at its early stages in terms of fighters salaries because management takes nearly all of the profits. Fedor also hardly ever fights these days, thoughout the whole of 2006 he fought twice.

    Liddel earned $250,000 for winning
    Ortiz earned $210,000 for losing
After Pay Per View and other bonuses The Las Vegas Review-Journal pegged Liddell's paycheque as more than $1 million

The card was expected to be the most lucrative in the history of the UFC, which announced a live gate of $5.397 million from the soldout crowd of 14,607 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. White had hoped for pay per view sales numbers of 1.2 million, which at $39.95 a shot translates into some $48 million.

That adds up to revenue of more than $50 million.

Total purse for the 18-fighter card was $767,000, according to the athletic commission figures. But since all of the fighters are under contract to the UFC, they can get bonuses and other payments that are not listed on the official purse for the card.
From UFC 66 them naygers got 50 million to play with and a basic payout of 767,000 leaving 49 million and some big change, the fighters get shit in comparison:

    Here’s the final tally:

    Chuck Liddell — $250,000
    Tito Ortiz — $210,000

Note: Both Liddell and Ortiz will receive a percentage of PPV proceeds.

Keith Jardine — $14,000 ($7,000 to fight, $7,000 win bonus)
Forrest Griffin — $16,000 ($16,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Andrei Arlovski — $145,0O0 ($90,000 to fight, $55,000 win bonus)
Marcio “Pe de Pano” Cruz — $5,000 ($5,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Jason MacDonald — $10,000 ($5,000 to fight, $5,000 win bonus)
Chris Leben — $7,000 ($7,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Michael Bisping — $24,0O0 ($12,000 to fight, $12,000 win bonus)
Eric Schafer — $4,000 ($4,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Thiago Alves — $22,000 ($11,000 to fight, $11,000 win bonus)
Tony DeSouza — $7,000 ($7,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Gabriel Gonzaga — $18,000 ($9,000 to fight, $9,000 win bonus)
Carmelo Marrero — $5,000 ($5,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Yushin Okami — $16,000 ($8,000 to fight, $8,000 win bonus)
Rory Singer — $5,000 ($5,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Christian Wellisch — $6,000 ($3,000 to fight, $3,000 win bonus)
Anthony Perosh — $3,000 ($3,000 to fight, no win bonus)

Keep in mind that fighters often earn extra cash on the side from sponsorship deals and other affiliations. This list does not include those exclusive figures.

In addition, fighters usually don’t walk home with complete paychecks. There are managers, trainers, promoters, nutritionists and a whole slew of people, including Uncle Sam, who get a percentage of the purse — win or lose.

Mayweather (36-0) won't have his uncle-trainer in his corner for at least a year after Roger Mayweather had his license revoked and was fined $200,000 Thursday as a result of a brawl that erupted in the 10th round. The fine is the second-largest doled out by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, surpassed only by the $3 million Mike Tyson paid after biting off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear in their June 28, 1997, heavyweight title fight.
^If they getting fined like that, they make alot of dough per fight

In forfeiting his entire salary from Mayweather's $5 million purse, Roger Mayweather said he was unfairly penalized for entering the ring to confront Judah after his nephew was hit with a low blow and a punch behind the head.

    ^Damn 5 Million

But Mosley, 38-2-0 with one no-contest, almost didn't take the fight. He has so frequently complained about the purse disparity between himself and De La Hoya that Mosley's promoter, Gary Shaw, refused to allow reporters to ask him about his salary on a recent conference call. De La Hoya is guaranteed $15 million.
^ yep Thats alot of dough, Oscar can make morefighting floyd
