    Wu-Tang Clan Releasing ONE Copy of Upcoming Album

    Be prepared to spend a lot of money if you want to buy Wu-Tang Clan’s upcoming double-album.
    The group plans to release only one copy of “The Wu – Once Upon a Time In Shaolin,” a 31-song secret album. No mass production. No digital streaming.
    The group’s decision was influenced by technology, which Wu-Tang Clan believes has diminished music as an art form, according to an online post by Tarik “Cilvaringz” Azzougarh and The Robert “RZA” Diggs, two of the group’s members.
    “By taking this step, we hope to re-enforce the weight that music once carried alongside a painting or a sculpture,” the duo wrote on the website scluzay.com. (more…)

    HipHopGame and Poison Pen Announce First Official Online Battle with a Loaded Prize Pack

    Ever since the internet got invented by Al Gore, MCs have been battling online with each other, only it’s been restricted to message boards, interviews, and corny shots in interviews. Now MCs can go head-to-head in this exclusive online battle, hosted by hosting god Poison Pen, where 16 MCs will be chosen from the entrants to compete in a four-round battle for internets supremacy.

    Please note, there will be a different beat chosen for each battle round, as well as a new opponent. Therefore, you must be able to submit your track with a relatively quick turnaround. Deadlines will be posted once the field has been chosen.

    Each round will be posted on Monday morning and fans can vote all week. The winners for each round will be announced Friday afternoon, and the advancing MCs will have the weekend to record their track for the next round, which will be posted Monday morning.

    An MC must have at least two of the possible three votes to advance to the next round. The fans get a vote, 730, editor-in-chief of HipHopGame, gets a vote, and of course the big homie Poison Pen gets a vote.

  • VH1 Announces ‘This Is Hot 97′ TV Show

    VH1 has announced a new show based on NY’s Hot 97.

    Beginning March 31 at 10:30 p.m., VH1’s cameras will take viewers inside New York’s No. 1 hip-hop radio station. The half-hour comedy will not only feature the crew but also the well-known celebrities who frequent the station. Hot 97 is being executive produced by Mona Scott-Young of Monami Entertainment and Toby Barraud, Stefan Springman, Mala Chapple and Ian Gelfand of Eastern.
