Joyner Lucas is one of the last new wave rappers who bleeds his soul into his lyrics. A true master of his pen, Lucas is regarded, rightfully so, as one of his generation’s most pensive rappers — replete with equal parts integrity and commercial appeal. Today, May 2nd, he continues to prove why he deserves to be in elite company with his new single, “Devil’s Work.”

Paying tribute to the fallen Nipsey Hussle and Xxxtentacion, “Devil’s Work” is a classic example of how Joyner demonstrates respect — very artfully at that — and gives credit when it’s due; it’s also a testament to his impressive creative direction, as he dropped “Devil’s Work” with an accompanying video.

As Joyner gears up for his forthcoming ADHD debut studio album, release date unknown, “Devil’s Work” paints a promising picture for the “I’m Not Racist” rapper’s official rookie project.
