Kanye West Shares Gospel Renditions of Hit Tracks

It’s soulful Kanye in his purest form.

Kanye West avoiding media headlines is as realistic as Donald Trump developing a sense of humility–simply, it’s just not going to happen. Luckily, though, today, January 7th, Kanye has routinely crept into headlines yet again, but not for disdaining Drake or asserting his geniosity–it’s actually, wait for it, for his music.

Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian shared a collection of videos of her husband performing some of his classic hits–from “Heard ‘Em Say” to “Reborn”–to the tune of live gospel instrumentation. Further embedding Ye’s gospel proclivity–evidenced by sampling The ARC Choir’s “Walk With Me” for his monumental song, “Jesus Walks”–these live-recorded renditions demonstrate Kanye’s staple soulful style in perhaps its purest form to date.

Hate him or love him, there’s no denying Kanye’s musical prowess, and how far he’s advanced not only hip-hop, but music at large. This collection of videos, available below, is just further evidence of why we wade through his bullshit: to revel in the heightened musical mind of one of this generation’s most impactful artists.
