Rest in Power.

Jay Z might have entered the limelight off the strength of his pensive storytelling and revolutionary flow, but when it’s all said and done for Hov, that’s just going to be a footnote on an incredibly illustrious career. A near billionaire, Jay has diversified himself to include involvement in a record label/management company, clothing lines, alcohol investments, sports franchise ownership, and much more. Now, he can add documentarian to the list.

Last night, Monday the 30th, Jay debuted the first of a six-part documentary, Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.

Between documenting events contributing to Trayvon’s tragic death and in-person interviews, Jay, with the help of directors Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby, constructs a narrative of the direct and indirect implications of this horrific event.

The documentary is on BET and Paramount, with the following episode airing on August 6th.
